Charlite Christine Ashe Powell, 76, of Rosman,  passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Transylvania Regional Hospital in Brevard, NC.  Charlite was born February 5, 1937 in  Jackson County to the late Sherill and Myrtle Melton Ashe. She was a member of East Sylva Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Gordon, Henry and Corbin Ashe, as well as her sister Naomi Shook. She is survived by her husband of 47 years Conrad Powell of Rosman; 2 Sisters- Dellia Nicholson and Wilma Young; Brother-in-law- Harrison and his wife Faye Powell. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday November 20 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:00 pm prior to the Service at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens. A Memorial Service will be held in Brevard at a later date.

Kathleen (Kathi) Gillespie Bayne, 54, of Brevard passed peacefully Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Transylvania Regional Hospital after an almost eight year battle to live. The daughter of Barbara Cloer of Mountain City, Georgia and the late Don Gillespie, she is survived by her adoring husband, Nick, loving daughter, Hannah, devoted and beloved brother, and Danny Gillespie, of Franklin, NC. She is preceded in death by her brother, Ronnie Gillespie. A memorial celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at St. Timothy United Methodist Church, 1020 Asheville Hwy in Brevard. A private family service for family and close friends will be held at the family's Gorda Ruth Chapel on Hickory Knoll near Franklin, North Carolina with interment to follow in the family cemetery. Moore Funeral Home is caring for the family.

James Frederick Allen, 88 of Flat Rock, NC, died Nov. 6, 2013. Born 4/19/1925 to Herbert J. and Beatrice Champlin Allen, in Erie, PA. In WWII he served as an Army medic. Survivors include his wife Jean W. Allen and children Jeanne M. Allen, John M. Allen, Col. Jay T. Allen and wife Sandy, and James F. Allen Jr.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, Kanuga Rd., Hendersonville, NC at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov 23, 2013.

Frank Thomas "Junior" Galloway, Jr., 72, of Etowah, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013 at the Elizabeth House in East Flat Rock. A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, he was the son of the late Frank Thomas Galloway, Sr. and Lillie Mae Crain Galloway. Mr. Galloway is also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Ralph Galloway and Bill Galloway; and sister, Mary Frances "Frankie" Rice. Mr. Galloway served our country in the United States Navy. Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Virginia Gail West Galloway of the home; sons, Steve Galloway, Stan Galloway, and Stacy and his wife April Galloway all of Etowah; brothers, Paul and his wife Barbara Galloway, and Harold Galloway all of Etowah; sisters, Ella Murphy of Candler, and Wilma Guice of East Flat Rock; and cherished grandchildren, Cole and Kayla Galloway. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 20 at Boyston Baptist Church in Mills River.

Neil Gilbert, 18, of Hendersonville, went to be the Lord Friday, November 15, 2013 following injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was a lifelong resident of Henderson County and graduated from West Hendersonville High in 2013. His passion was his work as a volunteer fire fighter with the Etowah-Horse Shoe Volunteer Fire and Rescue and was an aspiring paramedic. He loved to hunt, fish, and hang out with his brothers and many friends. He always had a smile on his face and enjoyed singing. He worked for Stone Electric in Cashiers, was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and also attended Bethel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Philip Holder, and his aunt, Pam Holder. Neil is survived by his parents, Mike and Jill Gilbert of Big Willow Community; two brothers, Patrick Gilbert and wife Sabrina of Laurel Park, and Austin Gilbert and wife Keisha of Mountain Home; two nephews, Cameron and Cooper Gilbert; paternal grandparents, Alvin and Pat Gilbert of Big Willow; maternal grandparents, Lester and Pat Holder of Mountain Home; his aunt Donna Holder Bolanõs and her children; uncle Ricky and aunt Sally Gilbert and sons; and a host of loving extended family. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 19th at Anchor Baptist Church with Pastors Dewey Barnwell and Keith Norris officiating. Burial will follow at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m. Monday at Anchor Baptist Church. David Edward Finkel, 32, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2013. A native of Broward County, FL, he was the son of Charles E. Finkel and Karolin A. Finkel. Surviving in addition to his parents is his brother, Stephen Finkel of Sarasota, FL. No local services are planned. Moody-Connolly Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Thomas Lowe McKee, 94, of Brevard, NC passed away on November 14, 2013 at the Tore's Home. He was the son of the late Ralph Lowe McKee and Margaret McKee Chambers. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Jessie Tobias McKee, two sons Randolph LoweMcKee and Thomas Lowe McKee. Thomas was an Army Air Force Veteran serving during WWII between 1941 and 1945. Thomas is survived by two daughters; Peggy Ayres and her husband Barry, and Susan Martin and her husband Stephen, six grandchildren; Elizabeth McKee and her husband Jaime Hall, Lowe McKee, Christopher McKee, Abby McKee, Jennifer Martin, and Jason Martin, two great grandchildren; Jenesis Martin and Christopher Jhevon Martin, and two daughters in law; Jeanne Passmore and her husband David and Carolyn McKee. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at St. Philips Episcopal Church, 256 E. Main St., Brevard. A committal service will be held prior to the memorial service at 1:30 PM at St. Pauls Cemetery including military honors.
