Charles W. Sullivan, 79, of Pisgah Forest, formerly of Colina, Il passed away on Tuesday, December 13th, 2011 at the Oaks of Brevard. He was born on January 20, 1932 in Temple Hill, IL to the late Carl Sullivan and Clara Wilkins Sullivan. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a brother; Len Sullivan and a grandson, Ryan Dieterich. Loved by his wife Marilyn Jean Sullivan, two son; David Sullivan of Ny, and Scott Sullivan of IL., three daughters Diane and (Larry) Jackman, Kathleen Pace, Debra Simpson four grandchildren, some great grandchildren, as well as three brothers and many nieces and nephews also survive. A graveside service will be held at 11am on Thursday, December 15th, 2011 at Pisgah Gardens. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date in IL. Moore Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Elizabeth Sizemore Moffitt, 79 went home to be with the Lord on December 12. She was a native of Henderson County. She was predeceased by her husband: Allen Moffitt, a son: David Moffitt, two daughters: Joyce Moffitt and Ann Sheltz, two sisters: Margaret Cantrell and Ruby Moffitt, two brothers: Robert and Cecil Sizemore, and her parents: James and Bertha Sizemore. Survivors include a son: Donald Moffitt and his wife Martha and James Moffitt Jr., a daughter: Eydie Ward and her husband Carroll, two sisters: Betty Allen and her husband Earl and Mildred White and her husband Paul, one brother: Ralph Sizemore and wife Suzanne. Thirteen beloved grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Friday at Thos. Shepherd's Church Street Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Shaw's Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm tomorrow evening at Thos. Shepherd's Church Street Chapel.
Jesse Torrence Capps, 90, of Hendersonville went to be with the Lord, Monday. He was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell Capps SR. and Lola E. Pace Capps, his wife, Lois Eva Capps, a son, Donnie Capps, three brothers, William (Bill) Capps Sr., Leo Capps and Ben Capps and a sister, Evelyn Pace. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII. He is survived by three sons, Stanley Capps and wife Shelia of Hendersonville, Ronnie Capps of Kernersville, NC and Max Capps and fiancé Karyl of Hendersonville; two brothers, LD (Buck) Capps and wife Catherine and Mitchell Capps JR. and wife Carolyn one sister-in-law Mary Capps all of Hendersonville; five grandchildren, Chris Capps and wife Nancy, Kirk Capps and wife Dawn, Ji-Young Metcalf and husband Doug , Jennifer Balkcom and husband Clint and Jeremy Capps and wife Kathy; fourteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2 pm Friday at King's Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Military Honors conducted. The family will receive friends tomorrow night from 6 pm to 8 pm at King's Grove Baptist Church.
Earline Owen Barry, 87, of Hendersonville, went to be with the Lord on Friday. She was the daughter of the late Marion Earl Owen and Molly Sarah West Owen of Hapeville, GA. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Owen Barry and 2 brothers, John C. Owen and Thomas W. Owen. She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Thomas George Barry; two daughters, Claudia Barry Gonzalez of Hendersonville, NC and Penelope Marie Myers (husband Floyd Toby Myers) of Arden, NC; two brothers, James Wilson Owen and Marion Wesley Owen of the Atlanta area; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 pm on December 17 at Covenant Presbyterian Church.
Olive Adams, 92, of Hendersonville, passed away Sunday at Spring Arbor. She was the daughter of the late, Mary L. and William T. Sweetman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, J. Gordon Adams and two sisters, Clara L. Hummel and Ada S. Whitbeck. Surviving to cherish her memory are two nieces, Wilma M. Pinter, and husband, John, and Joan L. Schoff, and husband, Clifford; two nephews, David Whitbeck, and wife, Mary, and Paul Whitbeck, and partner, Kim; eight great nieces and nephews and several great- great nieces and nephews. Her family wishes to express their gratitude to her church family for their support and friendship during the last few years. Margaret Ellen Burley Adams, 85, of Hendersonville, died Saturday at the Elizabeth House. Formerly of Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late Frank Tillman Burley and Bessie Smith Burley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Claude R. "Happy" Adams. She is survived by two sons, Bill Adams, and wife, Nancy, of Severna Park, MD and Robert Adams, and wife, Sherry, of Flat Rock; three grandchildren, Barrett Adams, of Maryland, Laura Adams and Will Adams, both of Greenville, NC; along with numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM tomorrow at Main Street United Methodist Church in Columbia. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM tomorrow at Main Street United Methodist Church.

Alvin Guy Burchfiel of Cullowhee, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, at the age of 88. Son of the late Thomas and Ada Proffitt Burchfiel, he is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jo Edith Morgan Burchfiel. He also leaves four children: Tom Burchfiel and wife Pat, of Barnardsville; Lu Ada Burchfiel of Asheville; Dorothy Morelli and husband Mike of Brentwood, Tenn.; Eddie Burchfiel and wife Aylett of Asheville, as well as his beloved grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be held at Cullowhee United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
