Shirley Ann Anthony Tadlock, 61, passed away Wednesday December 14, 2011. A native of Swain County she was the daughter of the late John P. and Hazel Cook Anthony. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Kenneth Tadlock; 2 Daughters- Melissa Keefer and her husband Chuck of Whittier; Keniethea Clough and her husband Donnie of Bryson City; 1 Son- Bryan Tadlock of Whittier; 2 Brothers- Curt Anthony of Bryson Cit; Kenny Cook of Oregon; 1 Sister- Lethea Styles of Whittier; 9 grandchildren also survive. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 am Saturday at Oak Grove Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the Church.

Stanley Maynard Stonesifer Jr., age 68, of Sylva died Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Med West Harris of Sylva, NC. Mr. Stonesifer Jr. was born January 8, 1943 in Baltimore, MD. He is the son of the late Stanley Maynard and Bessie Mae (Vipperman) Stonesifer Sr. he was preceded in death by a son, a brother and a sister. He is survived by his wife: Darlene Stonesifer; a son Shaun Stonesifer of Sylva; stepsons James Michael Ledbetter of Alabama, Jeremy Ledbetter of Sylva, and Stan Hunter of OK; a daughter Teri Ledbetter of Sylva; a step daughter Kim Foxworth of Sylva; one brother Chester Stonesifer of Florida; one sister Linda Weltman of Florida; sixteen grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Appalachian Funeral Services are assisting the family and no services are planned at this time.

Mary Lou Chapman Tennis, 76 of Lake Toxaway went home to celebrate Christmas with the Lord on December 15, 2011. Born May 27, 1935 in Rosman, NC, she was the daughter of the late Phillip Edmund and Mary Ethel McCall Chapman. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by six sisters; Lola C. Owen, Otha C. Owen, Envalee C. O’Shields Galloway, Victoria C. Gate, Frances C. Nicholson and Verdary C. Owen. She was also predeceased by two brothers; Edward Chapman and Everette Chapman as well as an ex-husband, Frank Owen. Survivors include her brother, Elzie G. Chapman of Brevard, an ex-husband and very special friend, William Tennis of Hampton, VA and many many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews who all loved her very much. The family will receive friends on Monday December 19, 2011 from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3:00 PM. Interment will be in The Whitmire Cemetery following the service with the Reverend Steve Boley, her pastor and friend officiating.

Billy Ray Cook, age 66 of Sylva died Tuesday, December 13th, 2011 at home in Sylva. Mr. Cook was born on September 29, 1945 in Buncombe County, NC. He is the son of the late Marcus and Eva Cook. He was preceded in death by a sister and brother and two grandchildren. He served in the US Army. He is survived by his wife; Mary Cook; two stepsons James Clawson and Ben Clawson of Sylva; a stepdaughter Teresa Clawson Bradley; three brothers Carl and John Cook of Idaho and Sherrill Cook; one sister Eileen Cash of Gaston, AL and six grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, December 17, 2011 in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services. Burial will follow in the Cook Family cemetery with graveside rites conducted. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 15, 2011 from 6-8pm. Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva is in charge of the arrangements.

Richard Zinteck, of Hendersonville, died on Tuesday at the Elizabeth House. Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

James Donald Garren, Sr. 72, of Hendersonville, passed away Wednesday. Shuler Funeral Home will announce the arrangements.

William Ezra Allman, IV, 2 month old infant, of Hendersonville, passed away Tuesday at Mission Hospital. Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors will announce arrangements.

Dean Pearson, 76, of Dana passed away yesterday. He was born to the late Onnie Pearson and Pat Mauney Pearson on March 20, 1935. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Laverne Gregory Pearson; his daughter, Diane Pearson; his sister, Rachel Pearson Mixon; and his two brothers, Vernon Pearson and Yates Pearson. He is survived by his daughter, Terri Pearson Lanning and her husband, Ben, of Dana; his son, Alan Dean Pearson and his wife, Cyndi, of Dana; his grandchildren, Sherri, Valerie and David Strickland, Joshua Pearson and his wife, Amber, Casi Pearson; his great-grandchildren, Anthony, Elizabeth and Daniel Capps, Alexis Dana Pearson; his brother, Herman Pearson and a loving church family. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday at Dana Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM until 8:00PM tomorrow at Thos. Shepherd's Church Street Chapel.
