Kenneth Wayne Howard, 44, of Brevard, died, Sunday May 12, 2013 at Mission Hospital in Asheville. He was a member of Brevard Free Will Baptist Church of Brevard, NC. He was born in Brevard, February 8, 1969, to Bobby Joe Howard and The Late Sandra Shuler. Kenneth is survived by his wife; Kristi Howard, two daughters; Jordan Nicole, Christian Elizabeth Howard of the home, sons; Kenneth Wayne Howard Jr. and wife Ashley of Hendersonville, Joshua Wayne Howard, Tanner Mitchell Howard of Brevard, Brothers; Gary Joe of Brevard, Sisters; Vicki Elaine Shipman and husband Fred, nephew;, Jeff Baynard of See-Off Mountain. Grandchildren; Braiden Howard, Maxwell O'ConnellHoward. Funeral Services will be Thursday May 16, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Gillespie –Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Brevard Free Will Baptist Church from 6-8 Pm. Moore Funeral Home is caring for the family.
Joy A. Dobbins, 70, of Hendersonville, NC passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at Pardee Hospital. She was born in Waterford, Ohio and was preceded in death by a daughter, Bari Dobbins, her parents, Earl and Bertha Skinner and a sister, Carol. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Burl Dobbins; two daughters, Susan Dobbins and Ginger Murphy both of Hendersonville; nine grandchildren; one great granddaughter; five brothers; three sisters and many nieces and nephews.
Bertha Louise Seay, 74, of Hendersonville, died Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Pardee Hospital. A native of Edneyville, she was the daughter of the late Hughes & Nora Hoots. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Harold Lee Seay. She is survived by four children, Teresa Taylor and her husband Rodger, Kevin Seay and his wife Penni, Angela Seay-Railing and her husband Mike, Charlie Seay and his wife Bennie; a brother, Gene Hoots and his wife Ollie; a sister, Mae Dalton and her husband bud; nine grandchildren, Hannah Poole and her husband Brandon, Joshua Minter, Michaela Minter, Greg Parris and his wife Kristen, Daniel Parris and his wife Carrie, Steven Seay, Tina Seay-Irizarry and her husband Juan, Mason Seay, and Gage Seay; and five great-grandchildren, Savannah Poole, Braden, Hailey, and Ellie Parris, and Yandel Irizarry. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Forest Lawn Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Doris Ruth Graham, 78, passed away peacefully at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock on May 10, 2013. A memorial service for Mrs. Graham will be held at 2:00 P.M. Dorothy Arthur Holland, 87, of Brevard NC, passed away, Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the Oaks of Brevard. A native of Orlando, Florida, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Zona Arthur and the wife of the late Ferman Holland. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her sister, Eileen Johnson. Her closest surviving family member is her niecec, Carleen Davis, of Penrose, NC. A graveside service will be held at 11am, Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Florida. Moore Funeral Home and Woodlawn Funeral Home are caring for the arrangements.

Roy William Chapman, age 78, of Rosman, NC went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, May 10, 2013, at his home. Born on January 21, 1935, he was the son of the late John and Essie M. Chapman. In addition to his parents he was preceded, by his loving wife Mabel (Scrub), brothers, Elford, Hershell, J.D. and Marvin and sisters Geneva Chapman, Eva Whitmire and Edith Anders. Roy is survived by his son Dean Chapman and Victoria, of Rosman, NC, and daughter Debbie Duckett and husband Buddy of Hendersonville, NC; two brothers Allen Chapman and wife Sandy, and D.H. and wife Geraldine of Rosman, NC; two sisters Gladys Galloway and husband Edward of Rosman, NC, and Addis Jones of Brevard, NC. Roy is also survived by five grandchildren who he referred to as “his babies”, Jared Chapman and fiancé’ Jessica Phillps, Chelsea Tesnow and husband Blake and Bay Chapman all of Rosman, NC, and Nikki and J.D. Duckett of Hendersonville, NC; two great grandchildren, Kayden and Audrina Chapman of Rosman, NC, and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, May 14, 2013 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Owen officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Monday at the funeral home. Moody-Connolly Funeral Home is caring for the family.

Lula Mae Brevard age 91 of Hendersonville died May 9, 2013 at Hendersonville Health and Rehab. She was born June 21, 1921 in Henderson County to the late Zebulon David Brevard and Lela Jane Corn Brevard. She was a charter member of Mt. View Baptist Church and was a spinner with Balfour Mills and J.P. Stevens. She is survived by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by six brothers Darius Brevard, Claude "Bob" Brevard, William Brevard, J.C. Brevard, Dwight Brevard, Tom Brevard and a sister Clara B. Worsham. A Funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Mt. View Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors. Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.

Richard Allen Tracy age 51 of Hendersonville died Wednesday, May 8, 2013. He was born July 25, 1961 in McLean County, IL to Richard Allen Tracy and Audrey Payton Tracy. He was the husband of the late Theresa Nadine Tracy. He is survived by his parents of Salem, IL.; a son James Tracy of Hendersonville, grandchildren Kylie and Ace Warren of Hendersonville; a sister Debbie Rinehart and her husband mark of Carter, IL, a brother Greg Tracy and his wife Rosie of Gridley, IL and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Carrie Tracy Warren. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Beulah Baptist Church. Carrie Tracy Warren age 30 of Hendersonville died May 8, 2013. She was born February 25, 1983 in Livingston, County, IL. to the late Richard Allen Tracy and Theresa Russell Tracy. She is survived by her children, Kylie Warren and Ace Warren of Hendersonville, a brother James Tracy of Hendersonville, her maternal grandparents Jerry and Bessie Russell of Salem, IL and paternal grandparents Richard and Audrey Tracy of Salem, IL and several aunts, uncle and cousins.
