Darrell Dean Allen, 47, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at his residence. The graveside service will be held at 2 pm Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Mack McCall Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Owen and others officiating. Moody-Connolly Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mary Margaret "Margie" Hilliard Joseph, 59, of Hendersonville, NC died Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at her residence. She was a daughter of the late Jonathan Burns and Bertha Pohl Hilliard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Joseph who died in 2011 and her son, Brian who died in 2006. She is survived by her son; Ronnie Charles Joseph and his wife Cilia of Andrew AFB, Md., two brothers; Jack Hilliard of Etowah, NC and Tommy Hilliard of Hendersonville, NC., one sister; Carol Hunter of FL., two granddaughters; Claudia and Adriana, both of Andrews, AFB, Md., and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3:00PM, Wednesday, May, 22, 2013. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Burial will follow at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain, NC. Moore Funeral Home is caring for the family.
Brian Scott Absher, 21 of Hendersonville passed away suddenly on May 17, 2013 at Pardee Hospital. He is the son of Louis Pinheiro and Susie Gunter. He is preceded in death by his sisters Jessica Pinheiro, April Gunter and Kathy Thompson. There will be no service.
Arthur Edmund Brinton, 83, of Hendersonville, died on May 17 at the Elizabeth House. Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.

Paula Johnston Fowler of the Hooper's Creek Community went to be with the Lord on Friday night, May 17, 2013. She is survived by her loving mother and father-in-law, Onnie and Juanita Fowler, and the sixty-five members of the Fowler family, including her three step daughters: Juanita (Punkin) Cate, Jennifer Bradley, Brandy McMahan, and five grandchildren. Her family also includes the families of her brothers and sisters Loretta (Sam) Crawford, James Johnston, Andy Johnston, and Sara Buchanan, all of Candler. She has five nieces and nephews, and one great-nephew. A funeral will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Hoopers Creek Baptist Church with Revered Tony Galloway and Reverend Phillip Youngblood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM until 8:00PM on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at the funeral home. Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
Madeline Farmer Justice, 61, of Dana went to her Lord Sunday, May 19, 2013. Born January 19, 1952, she was preceded in death by her mother, Pauline Lyda Farmer and a brother, Roy Farmer. Survivors include three daughters, Candi, Tracy, and Bennie; the love of her life, William Brown, "Brownie"; four grandchildren, Morgan, Ty, Mason, and Gage. A funeral will be at 4:00 pm Wednesday in the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 pm prior to the service in the chapel. Forest Lawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Harris of Glenville, North Carolina passed away peacefully at home on May 15, 2013, after a valiant 2 year battle with cancer. Daughter of the late John Vandenberg and Jerene Medema Vandenberg. Betty was preceded in death by her sister Jerene Vandenberg Myrick. Betty is survived by her husband and best friend of 64 years, Leigh B. “Tim” Harris II; daughter Donna Harris Pope of Princeton, New Jersey; son Leigh B. Harris III and wife Mary Jane of Arden, North Carolina; daughter Dale Harris Sparacino and husband David of Hendersonville, North Carolina; son Timothy John Harris and wife Deana of Atlanta, Georgia; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 5 nieces and nephews and many friends. A Memorial of Betty’s life will be celebrated on July 13, 2013, at 1:00 PM, in St. Joseph’s Chapel on the campus of Christ School in Arden, NC.
Lieutenant Colonel Douglas Crowder Wheeless age 69, of Brevard died Sunday, May 18 2013. Funeral services will be held Friday May 24, 2013 at 2:00pm at The First United Methodist Church of Brevard. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening May 23, 2013 from 6-7:30pm at the funeral home. Lawrence Joseph Faust died at his home in Whittier, NC, on May 17, 2013 after a long illness. Mr. Faust was in born Beech Grove, Indiana in 1952. He was the son of Lawrence J. Faust and Evelyn M. Faust, both deceased of Tomahawk, WI. Mr. Faust served in the U.S. Army- Special Forces. He is survived by his wife Kim, his daughter, Samantha Faust of Whittier, his son, Aaron Faust of Sylva and one granddaughter No services are planned at this time.

Gary Justus, 66, of Hendersonville, NC passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013 at his home after a period of declining health. He was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County. He was preceded in death by his parents, George E. Justus and Nellie Patterson Justus and a brother, William C. Justus. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He is survived by his daughter, Tara L. Justus and her husband Duane Schneck of Hendersonville; two brothers, Donald M. Justus and his wife Jean of Flat Rock and Douglas Justus and his wife Margaret of Greer, SC; nieces and nephews, Debbie, Mike, Kim, Kelly Jeff, Todd and Dustin Justus. A private service will be held at a later date.
Rita Peranio, 85, of Fletcher, NC passed away Friday, May 17, 2013 at the Elizabeth House. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Peranio.Rita is survived by her daughter, Giana Peranio-Paz; two grandchildren, Gittai and Hagar; a great grandson, Ido all of Israel and several nieces and nephews. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Nancy Jean Morgan Williams, 80, of Hendersonville passed away Friday, May 17, 2013 at Elizabeth House. She was born December 12, 1932 in Hendersonville and was the daughter of the late Sherman and Edith Capps Morgan. Survivors include her loving husband of sixty years, Ernest Eugene "Gene" Williams; her children and their spouses, Michael Williams and his wife Peggy, Linda Williams Harris and her husband Ted, and Holly Williams; her grandchildren, Nathan Williams and his wife Katie, Matthew Williams, Haley Harris Parent and her husband Adam, and Emily Harris; a sister, Olive Morgan Goins; and her constant companions, her faithful dogs, Kris and Amanda. A private entombment with no local service is planned. Forest Lawn funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
