Edwin Poindexter of Pisgah Forest died Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Kingsbridge House after a 5 year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was the son of the late Rev. R. L. and Launa Poindexter of Franklin, NC.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Rev. R. L. Poindexter and Verlon Poindexter, and sisters, Evelyn Swafford, Ruth Hornsby, and Elizabeth Swafford.  Edwin is survived by his wife, Jean Poindexter of the home; son, David Poindexter of Fayetteville, NC; sisters, Inez West of Brevard, Amelia Newsom of Austell, GA; brother, James Poindexter and wife Juanita of Hanford, CA; a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, April 21, 2013 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.The graveside service will be held at 10:00 am Monday, April 22, 2013 at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory with military rites conducted.  Moody-Connolly Funeral Home is caring for the family.

Ralph Franklin Cantrell, 80, of Brevard passed away April 16 at The Oaks of Brevard. Family will receive friends at the home of Tommy and Brenda Cantrell from 2-4 p.m. Saturday.

Gabriel Manuel Lopez, 3 ½ month old infant son of Joshua Manuel Lopez and Sarah Marie Lopez of Leicester, died Sunday, April 14, 2013. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his two sisters, Jasmine Wall, 8 and Ophelia Dupre, 5; his Nona, Gabriela Kozlowski; his Nana Kimberly Lopez; his Abuelo Jose Lopez; his Papi Warren Wall; Grammie Lauren Wall; Aunt Rachi Rachelle Greene; Uncle Austin Greene; cousins, Shiloh and Hailee; Aunt Sara Lopez; Aunt Laura and Uncle Justin Wall. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, at Boiling Springs Baptist Church. Forest Lawn Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Irene G. Dalton, passed away April 16, 2013, at the age of 91, after a brief illness. Born August 6, 1922, she grew up near Lake Ariel, PA. She is survived by her husband, Benjamin, and one son, David (Charlene) B. Dayton of Cleveland, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Linda Dayton of Gates; granddaughters, Heather (Jason) Argo, Melissa Dayton (Vinny Leta); great-granddaughter, Amelia. A second son, Glenn C. Dayton, died in 2008. On Saturday morning, April 20, friends are invited to attend her Funeral Services at 9:30 at the DiPonzio Funeral Home, Inc., 219 Spencerport Road, Gates. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Jackson Funeral Service is assisting the family locally.
